A large part of my business as a professional artist is doing commissioned paintings. I like the process of working with someone or a group, to come up with a painting that is much more than a faithful rendering.

Subjects I have painted for people include a collection of valuable old fishlng lures, women’s bathing suits, table china, a small girl’s pinafore and a small boy’s overalls, an antique car driven by Clark Gable and Carole Lombard, a cowboy shirt owned by Malcolm Forbes, various pharmaceuticals floating in a nighttime sky, a lacrosse stick and an aerial view of the Woods Hole Oceanographic campus for a departing president.

My dedication to accurate detail, precise technique, and sense of what artistic license can and can’t accomplish in a commissioned piece help me to please the client and me, the artist.
